wisteria

i am lost within my mind,
i have been lead astray,
I am tangled in poisoned ivy,
my life is in utter disarray.
caught in a thicket of wisteria
and the dreary perfume of narcissus,
i cannot escape you–
even in my head. in my bed,
i wish you were playing with my hair,
kissing my neck and making my
toes curl. my bills have lined up,
stacking high and edged with green,
people keep on banging on my door
but all i can think about is him.
him, him, him
don’t i sound like
a starstruck teen?
like a girl with her first crush,
i want to write your name
across my heart.
i am grown, i am not new to these feelings
but when i think of him,
my heart skips a beat.
