Poetry

the beginning

I could not never go back to the beginning
of the fall, the disgrace from heaven,
the leap of faith
that soon spiraled to the apex of my despair–
the madness born from
lies pursed on cruel lips.
as my defenses lie wide open,
a formidable wall
crumbling at the prospect
of comfort and love,
the societal ideal of perfection,
I was never prepared for the sudden,
unrelenting waves of disappointment,
but are any of us?
the bravest of us all,
the untouchable Adonis
grazed by the statuesque light,
I will myself to crumble once more at the prospect of failure.
