Siren Song

Waves crash in the distance,
a whale breaches the surface,
and a lonely siren strings her songs of sensual despair into the disappearing night.
Her song of woe is melodic
And ethereal,
Too beautiful for mortal ears
But they don’t truly listen–

do they?

The lovely monster
With turquoise scales,
Pointy teeth
And gills,
Sings until the dawn,
Her sins washing away
As soon as the sun peaks through the layers of black and purple,

Monster is such a grotesque name
For such a being with such a beautiful form.
Running her webbed fingers
Through her wet and slick hair,
A kaleidoscope of shades that-

Will bring a man to his knees.

She closes her eyes
As the malicious words course through her,
Adding to her dark song-

A haunting symphony; a harmonic calamity…
